About Mazda Zoom-Zoom Stadium Hiroshima
Opened in 2009, this open-air ballpark replaced the cramped Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. Home of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp — the only fan-owned, citizen-supported team in NPB — the stadium is designed in the modern asymmetric "ballpark" style, with sightlines and seating built right up to the field, inspired by Camden Yards and the new wave of US baseball-only parks.
Fun facts
- Hiroshima Toyo Carp is the only NPB team owned by its citizens — formed when locals raised funds to build the original stadium after WWII.
- Naming rights belong to Mazda, headquartered in Hiroshima.
- The ballpark has a barbecue zone in left field where fans grill their own food during games.
