About Belluna Dome
Opened in 1979 as Seibu Lions Stadium, Belluna Dome has the most distinctive design in NPB: the roof was added in stages and covers only the seating bowl, leaving the field open to the surrounding forest. This open-sided design makes it the only "semi-outdoor dome" in major-league baseball. Home of the Saitama Seibu Lions, who have won 13 Japan Series titles — second only to the Yomiuri Giants.
Fun facts
- On hot summer days, the open sides mean the dome doesn't fully air-condition — fans bring portable fans.
- Located in Tokorozawa, a 40-minute train ride from central Tokyo via the Seibu Ikebukuro Line (owned by the same Seibu Group).
