About Rakuten Mobile Park Miyagi
Originally opened in 1950 as Miyagi Baseball Stadium, this Sendai ballpark was extensively renovated in 2005 for the inaugural season of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles — the newest franchise in NPB, formed after the 2004 league reorganization. The Eagles' 2013 Japan Series championship, won three years after the devastating Tohoku earthquake, became a powerful symbol of regional recovery.
Fun facts
- Has an attached Ferris wheel and amusement park inside the outfield concourse.
