About Stars Park

The home of the St. Louis Stars during the Negro National League I era (1922–1931). Stars Park featured one of the most asymmetric outfields in baseball history — a streetcar barn behind left field created a 250-foot wall just 269 feet from home plate, making the park a hitter's paradise. The 1928 Stars — with Cool Papa Bell, Mule Suttles, and Willie Wells — are sometimes ranked alongside the 1935 Crawfords as one of the greatest Negro League teams ever. The site is now occupied by Harris-Stowe State University.
