About Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium in Baltimore's Waverly neighborhood was the home of the Orioles from 1954 to 1991, hosting one of baseball's most consistently excellent franchises. The inscription above the main entrance — "Time Will Not Dim The Glory Of Their Deeds" — honored war veterans and set a dignified tone.

The Orioles won three World Series (1966, 1970, 1983) while playing at Memorial Stadium, and the team's "Oriole Way" philosophy of fundamentally sound baseball was developed here under managers like Earl Weaver. Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, and Cal Ripken Jr. all became legends at 33rd Street.

The Orioles left Memorial Stadium after the 1991 season for the revolutionary Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which ushered in the retro-ballpark era that transformed stadium design across all of sports.
